Fiesta de Hockey, a celebration of culture and sport, will return to Chicago for its 5th consecutive year. Athletes are expected to arrive on May 6 and depart late on May 10. PRIHA expects over 150 athletes to represent Puerto Rico in this years event across 8 divisions. The event is held in partnership with the Chicago Blackhawks Foundation. This year, PRIHA expects to continue its series of cultural engagements started at last years event with Bomba/Plena and Salsa classes open to all participants.
During the event, the first round of the Challenger Series will take place. The Challenger Series showcases the best talent from developing hockey nations with large diasporas in North America. Last year the Series contained numerous prideful athletes from the top college levels as some from professional ranks. This year the series will welcome APNA Hockey as its 5th official member. Both the Mens and Womens divisions will feature their largest number of teams. Puerto Rico last won the Series in 2023 when it featured only Jamaica as a Challenger before it transitioned to a formal league competition.
