The Puerto Rico Men's National Team fell short of its goal in the 2025 Challenger Series and failed to secure a third championship for the calendar year. The season feautured the toughest competition the team has faced so far.
In game 1 of round 2, the team found itself down early vs Lebanon before rallying back to secure two consecutive 3-goal leads. Unfortunately, a late lapse in the third by the Lebanese team put Puerto Rico at a deficit late and they let up an empty net to make the final score 9-7.
Puerto Rico also dropped the second game vs Jamaica and then went down 5-0 against Greece before rallying back with 5 unanswered in the second half of the game and battling through a high-paced overtime period before securing the upset in the shootout 6-5. That marked the first loss for Greece in the Challenger Series so far. Greece went on to win the Championship vs Lebanon in an exciting match and secured the trophy in their first full season as part of the Series.
The final standings and statistics can be found at challengerserieshockey.com. The stats leaders for the Series through 6 games were Chase Freiermuth with 17 points and Ashton Collazo with 11. Kagen Langlois and Michael Marquez joined the team for the second round and contributed 7 and 8 points, respectively.
